DetailsEdit

Most items in Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning and its DLCs are classified as random loot. This means that every time a chest or container is opened, there is a small chance that an item may be found there. Similarly for corpses, whenever a corpse is looted there is a small chance to find an item.

Because the loot is generated randomly at the moment when the chest/container/corpse is inspected the game can be saved and reloaded in an attempt to obtain better/different loot.

Note: Loot found from enemies or chest in an area location (e.g. houses, building, dungeons) are randomly generated upon entry. This means that any loot that is found in these areas are predetermined the moment you enter and will not be randomised upon opening the chest or searching defeated enemies. It is therefore possible to save before entering a house or dungeon, search through the area for any useful loot and then save again after completing the area or reload the save depending on whether the loot found was desirable to the player.

Scripted LootEdit

Some items have scripted locations and those will therefore be obtained in the same location or in the same circumstances in every playthrough. This also includes items that are received as fixed rewards for specific quests.

In Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning there is a very small number of items whose locations are scripted. The Legend of Dead Kel DLC adds a significantly larger number of items with scripted locations. Known items with scripted locations are listed below for the core game and each DLC.
