Hroth Magnus was the first mortal champion of the House of Valor, defeating the previous champion and Summer Fae leader of the house, Engard. After taking over the House of Valor, he quickly kicked out all the Fae who had not left the House yet and set about to change the gladiatorial ring once used to show the honor and prowess of the Fae, into an arena of death.
He was undefeated for decades until his son, Tyr Magnus defeated and killed him in battle a few seasons ago. But many who watched that fight say it was a strange fight.

Hroth supposedly died a warriors death, but several people who watched his fight mention that something was off. Considering the actions of Tyr Magnus during the House of Valor quest line, Tyr most likely poisoned him before the fight in order to give him the edge needed to defeat him.
