  • Court of Winter is a faction in Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning.

    DescriptionEdit

The Court of Winter, also known as the Winter Court, is the court of the Winter Fae. They like the Court of Summer, revere the cycle of life and work with the Summer Fae in order to maintain balance between summer and winter. Unlike their bright cousins, the Fae of the Winter Court embody the death and decay that comes with the arrival of winter.

The court was set up under the Weeping King at an unknown time long ago before the start of Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning originally under the House of Sorrows. When the Weeping King passed, either giving up his position and moving on following the cycle or he passed away, the position passed on to another Winter Fae next in line. As time went on, the seat of power as the king of the Winter Fae that the Weeping King set up and the House of Sorrows split becoming two separate entities.

Eventually the Court of Winter's leadership fell to the High King Mathon. Not much is known about him except that he offered Agarth knighthood, and that he and his court were murdered by the court jester, Gadflow. After the murder of the late king and his high ranking nobles the Court of Winter has been greatly diminished with most of its members forcibly or otherwise joining the ranks of the Tuatha Deohn.

The Court of Winter origionally encompassed the great houses of winter, The House of Sorrows, the House of Pride and the House of Vengence, however in recent times the houses of Pride and Vengence defected to the Tuatha Deohn.
